DIY: Iron Maiden- messenger bag

Last year I was between jobs and went to a class of entrepreneurship. The main task there was to create an illusive company. I had no difficulties to choose my line of business: a web shop for my hand made products. During the class, I wanted to create something concrete to show in a meeting with the team leader.

As a huge metal music fan, I like everything related to it. I love to search flee markets to find band shirts etc. I had found an Iron Maiden shirt in a good condition couple of years back for only one or two euros. Since then I have wondered what I could use it for.

So, I made a messenger bag.

Materials used:

-T-shirt, size M

-black cotton fabric

-black interfacing

-black sewing thread

- about 1,2 m of black strap

-2 d-rings

-1 slider

I was very pleased for the result and since then I have made a various messenger bags using different fabric designs. I have a plan to put them on sale here or to create a business account to Etsy. Or maybe both, lets see.

Goth Up Your Life - decorative pillows

I learned to make decorative pillowcases couple of years ago when I was a trainee at a local draper's. Pillows sewn were easy to make and with the right fabric, the result looks fantastic. I love everything gloomy, so I chose gothic style fabric to these pillowcases. The size is 40x40 cm.

My sister and I are planning to sell our crafts in Etsy, maybe these kind of alternative pillowcases too ;) Stay tuned!

Rainbows, rainbows...knitted socks

I think I have some kind of rainbow period going on. I blame the spring for that! Couple of weeks ago I baked a rainbow cake and now I knitted colourful wool socks to warm my continuously cold feet (yes, i wear wool socks even in the summer).

No more cold feet!

I used Novita's wool yarn named Viidakko (=jungle) and 3,5 mm needles. Knitting pattern is from a finnish craft magazine, Suuri Käsityölehti.

My shoe size normally is 38, but I didn't want the socks to be saggy so I knitted children's size 30 and it was a perfect fit! I guess I have a habit to knit loosely.

En tiedä mikä vaivaa mutta tässä kevään korvalla olen saanut fiksaation sateenkaarenväreihin. Tykkään kovasti kirkkaista väreistä, vaikka yleensä pukeudunkin tummaan. Vähän ajan sisällä olen kuitenkin leiponut sateenkaarikakun, alla olevat sukat ja puikoilla on tulossa seuraavaksi sateenkaaren väreissä koreileva vanulappupussin suojus. Keväällä auringonpaisteessa on lähes mahdotonta synkistellä. Se taitaa näkyä myös muussa tekemisessä.

Sukat on neulottu Novitan Viidakko-langasta, puikoilla nro 3,5. Sukkien perusohjeen löysin 2000-luvun Suuresta Käsityölehdestä. 

Jalkani on kokoa 38, mutta nämä sukat neuloin lasten kokoon 30, koska neulon luonnostaan suhteellisen löysästi eikä koon 38 sukat olisi näin ollen pysyneet jalassa. Mikäpä ärsyttävämpää kuin matkan varrelle jääneet sukat. Tästä koosta neulottuna sukista tuli kuitenkin täydellisen istuvat.
